Prototype Train starts trials
Project Techniques today announced a significant achievement on a Rail Rolling Stock project for Australian client Downer EDI Rail when the first prototype train took to the track for trials.
The commencement of trials is the culmination of several years intensive design and construction work and over the coming months will test the groundbreaking design and prove the vehicles reliability in an operational environment.
Under the New South Wales Rolling Stock PPP Contract with RailCorp, Reliance Rail will deliver 78 eight-car, double-deck trains (626 carriages) for the CityRail network and provide fleet maintenance under a 30-year contract at a purpose-built facility at Auburn in Sydney.
Project Techniques were appointed by Downer EDI to assist in the management of the European supply chain and are currently heavily engaged with specialist software developers EKE in Finland.
